The HEIs Roadmap is a virtual process model (a Diamond Tool) available at eamt.ee/heise, describing how the challenge solving model can be integrated to the overall societal impact model of HEIs and in what kinds of pre- and after requisites is needed from HEIs management. The impact assessment model has been integrated with the societal engagement model.
The Roadmap includes examples and visualizations. The Roadmap comes with explanations on how to build up the societal engagement model based on challenge solving as well as how to maintain it. It provides ways to calculate the resources needed in management as well as educational setting.
This Roadmap is a comprehensive educational model grounded in experiential and challenge-based learning with a focus on art-based methods building on research to increase higher education institutions’ societal engagement (HEISE).
The Roadmap is an Outcome of EU Erasmus plus project “Higher Education Institutions for Societal Engagement” (HEISE), a 36-month project with six partners from three counties: Aalto University (Finland), the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (Estonia, main coordinator), the Estonian Business School (Estonia), Laurea University of AppliedSciences (Finland), Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki (Finland), and Universidad del País Vasco/ Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (Spain). The partners broadly represent the field of HEIs, from art to business and social sciences to economics. The profiles of the partners covered the expertise required to carry out theproject by combining knowledge of social and societal challenges, higher education pedagogy, and innovative learning methodologies including arts-based methods, as well as the evaluation of impacts.
