EAMT is an educational, creative research and development institution, which provides education in areas related to music and theatre on BA, MA and PhD levels. As a public university, the task of EAMT is to provide services for society in its areas of activity based on educational, research and creative activity and to prepare university students for being responsible citizens who are capable of taking the initiative in life. In its activity, EAMT proceeds from the precondition that one of the primary objectives of Estonia as a country is the preservation of Estonian language and culture. Additionally, in recent years EAMT is taking on responsibilities for developing entrepreneurial skills and attitude in music students and Cultural Management programme is participating in the process with its know-how.

Cultural Management MA Programme (CM) was first established in the EAMT in 2002. Since then, the programme released almost 50 graduates, who respectively wrote and defended full academic thesis in English language. The programme was international from the very beginning (70% international professors) and has always been supported by different EU funding. From 2012 the MA Programme was modified to be an innovative joint programme with more emphasis on local sustainable professorship. The renewed two-year full-time MA Programme in CM with Estonian Business School (EBS) thus started in 2012. The programme is international, interdisciplinary and flexible with a special emphasis on management of culture and creative industries. The MA programme is intended for those interested in managing cultural institutions and organizing projects. Using active learning methods and lively discussion, the course offers students a chance to engage in cultural discourse, learn about creative industries and cultural entrepreneurship and provides access to creative networks. The programme also takes on cultural policy questions and gives tools to the students to participate in the relevant policy discussion. The CM programme is the only MA – level programme with 100% English-language teaching and international professorship in Estonia. The programme is also part of ENCATC network and participates in AIMAC.
